Last week, our entire team gathered in one city for a hack week. It was a powerful way to connect in-person, learn more about each other, and move the needle on a few key projects:
- We received a fresh batch of electronics. Our engineering team got straight to work loading firmware, running tests, and prepping for certifications coming up in the next few weeks.
- On the creative side, we heard you loud and clear, and started filming new podcast episodes, feature explainers, and deep dives into the hardware that powers Bía. We can’t wait to show you what’s coming.
While we wait for the editing to finish on the creative side, let's dive deeper into the electronics
Electronics
On the top is our previous generation board. It worked well as a proof-of-concept, but its larger size and tight flex points created reliability challenges.
The new version is smaller, smarter, and stronger. Shrinking the electronics makes the mask more comfortable and the hardware more reliable.
You might also notice a platform change. We switched from the ESP32 platform to the STM platform last year. This upgrade is huge. This new chip is stronger and more efficient allowing Bía to run larger machine-learning models all while using less battery.
That means the Bía mask you receive will have headroom to grow and allow us to add in more features and more intelligence long after we deliver.
More to come in two weeks!
