Founders Update #43
Last week, one of our advisors asked, "What's the hardest part about building Bía right now" and I had an immediate answer: Orchestrating 100s of components across tens of manufacturers to arrive ready to go on the same day.

Michael here with the latest from Bía. Let’s kick things off with a few wins:
- We’re welcoming a new Creative Director to the team!
- We’ve had amazing conversations with external quality control experts who helped us verify and improve our framework to test and validate every part of Bía from fabric to electronics to software.
- Revision #3 of our bone-conduction drivers have arrived. These are custom-built specifically for us to sound great inside Bía. We’ll be running validation tests over the next few weeks.
Now let’s dive into the good stuff...
Manufacturing Update ⚙️
Last week, one of our advisors asked, "What's the hardest part about building Bía right now" and I had an immediate answer: Orchestrating 100s of components across tens of manufacturers to arrive ready to go on the same day.
That's why I'm excited to share that the finalized build of Bía is completing late September. We’ll be on the factory floor to oversee final assembly, fix last-minute issues, and prep for certifications. After that, it’s full steam ahead into production for Beta Phase #2.

This version is packed with improvements. While many were small 1mm tweaks, here are two of the biggest:
- Softer Foam: We refined the manufacturing process to remove pressure points and improve comfort across all sleep positions.
- Soft Good & Electronic Integration: We redesigned how our electronics connect to the fabric. That means easier button clicks, better signal quality, and a smoother sunrise wake up.
We're thrilled with this final design and we're not expecting any more changes as we move towards mass production.
Sleep Secrets of Pro Athletes 🏈
Last week we sat down with Pat Byrne, a world-renowned sleep and fatigue expert who has worked with elite organizations including the NHL, NBA, MLB, NFL, MLS, U.S. Department of Defense, Harvard Medical School, and Olympic teams worldwide.
In this episode, Pat breaks down:
- Why sleep is the ultimate performance enhancer
- How pro athletes and teams are using science to gain an edge
- The real dangers of fatigue on performance and recovery
- What everyday athletes and high performers can learn from the pro
If you want to unlock your true potential on the field, at work, or in life, this conversation will change the way you think about rest.
