Manufacturing and more...
Michael here! This week we have a big update from Andrew as he just got back from visiting overseas manufacturers.
Manufacturing 🏭
What an adventure! Over the past two weeks Andrew vetted 6 factories in 2 countries. These manufacturers all specialize in soft goods and have built impressive products such as VR headsets, medical-grade massagers, sleep masks, and more.
We'll be travelling back to these factories throughout product development to oversee sampling, quality control, and progress towards Beta and launch.
Top: Andrew with a factory representative in front of a wall of certifications and accomplishments. This factory specifically did not allow photos as they have contracts with world-leading technology brands who require privacy.
Middle: Demonstration of in-house quality control and test labs. This facility, for example, can test battery cycles, heat/cold/humidity exposure, how many times a cable can bend, and much more.
Bottom: A walk-through of a factory line for final assembly.
Our Wins & Learnings 🏆
🏆 Out of the six factories we've successfully vetted and signed contracts with two new ones! Having multiple options developing in parallel allows us to ensure quality and that we will meet our timelines. We feel extremely confident in their abilities.
💡 Finding a manufacturer that meets our high quality standards and low order quantities, especially for things like foam, was exceedingly challenging. On the plus side, it has lead us to find some great options.
⚡Your Comments, Our Responses
How does Bluetooth Streaming work?
When you choose to use our Bluetooth Streaming future, it will be just like connecting your headphones to your Bluetooth headphones. Anything you choose to stream can be played through our mask. Libby, Audible, Spotify, YouTube - anything you like! You will still be able to use our Auto-Pause feature to stop the audio (and Bluetooth) once you fall asleep.
How does Neural Music work?
To our brain, music is essentially rhythmic and repeated activation of neurons, as a result of audio stimulation. Neuroscientists designed our music so that the neural activation ends up mimicking an entire sleep stage, encouraging that pattern of activity (eg. Deep Sleep) to happen over and over again. As a result, your brain is guided to sleep. It's kind of like how a song gets stuck in your head, but in this case, the song is a stage of sleep.
