Electronics, 3D Foam, Neural Music, and more

Michael here! This week we're diving into the electronics, talking about our wins & learnings, and answering some of your questions.

Electronics 📱

Good news! The latest batch of chipsets have rolled off of the assembly line, they've all been physically tested for quality, and we're now testing with our in-house software.

Systems: Audio components are on the left, processing on the right, power and battery management in the middle, and sensors on the top rail. This design reduces interference between sections, and improves the signal quality of all our components.

Coloring: While the most common chipset colors are green and black, we opted for a white finish to increase the brightness of the Sunrise Wakeup.

Our Wins & Learnings 🏆

🏆 Andrew is half-way through this trip overseas and have visited many of our manufacturers. It's one thing to chat over Zoom, it's another to see how they work, which machines they use, and how they track progress.

🚩 There isn't a one-size-fits-all factory for Bía. One factory specializes in foam, another in velcro, and another in injection molding, etc. While this complicates manufacturing, it also gives us more control over the details.

Your Comments, Our Responses ⚡

What's the update on the timeline?

Right now, if everything goes according to plan, it looks like Beta will be shipping late September with Early Bird shipping at the end of the year.

Electronics: With the new chipsets in hand we need one month to finish testing, and one more month to finish production. This means that electronics for Beta will be ready to go late in September.

Soft Goods: While Andrew is overseas this week meeting with manufacturers we've been able to 3D print prototypes locally. This printing technique uses lattices to simulate soft foam using plastic and while it won't work for production as it's outrageously expensive it's been great to do fit-testing with.

What integrations do you have planned?

With your feedback we've added Samsung Health and Garmin to our roadmap of integrations alongside Apple Health and Google Fit.

Apps such as Calm, Audible, and YouTube Music will work with Bía. You'll have the option to play audio all night, or too pause the audio when Bía detects that your asleep

Integrating with wearables such as Oura and Whoop will depend on how well they integrate with Apple Health and Google Fit. Apple Health and Google Fit act as a hub for all your health data where you can choose what gets shared and where.

What's happening with Neural Music?

We're finishing up 3 of our Neural Music tracks - Piano, Ocean, and Noise. You can listen to samples on soundcloud.
Now we're looking to expand our Neural Music collection - is there a theme you would like us to explore? Is there a theme that you absolutely hate?
